Easy ‘no need to knead’ Bread

My love of bread and toast dictated that this was the first thing that i had to make myself oil free. Shop bought bread has oil lurking in it as well as other unhealthy ingredients and preservatives. This really is as simple as bread making gets. Yummy.

Ingredients:

580g Wholemeal strong bread flour
11g Fast action yeast
1/2 tsp Salt
480ml Warm water
2 tsp Maple syrup
Sprinkle of chia seeds (optional)
Sprinkle of oats (optional)

Method:

1- Add dry ingredients to a bowl and mix together.

2- Add warm water to a jug, pop in the maple syrup and stir.

3- Pour wet into dry mixture.

4- Mix with a spatula or wooden spoon until you have a sticky dough. NO NEED TO KNEAD.

5- Lay some baking parchment over a loaf tin and scrape the dough onto it so it falls into the tin on top of the parchment and spread evenly with a spatula.

6 – Sprinkle top with chia seeds and oats if desired.

7- Cover and leave in a warm place for 20mins to prove. I use a large bowl over the top to leave room for the dough to rise.

8- whilst the dough is proving, pop the oven to 200 degrees C

9- After 20mins dough should have risen a bit. Pop in the oven for 40mins.

10- Remove from the oven and let cool. EAT!

NOTE: Best eaten on the first 3 days. There after it is great as toast done on the grill. (For some reason it doesn’t toast well in the toaster, especially when fresh).
